Free Online Games

There are a lot of games out there, some great, some not so great. Here are some of our favorites. They are not complex enough to need cheat codes so I don't have any cheat codes marked. And anyway, a good game should be most fun without cheating.

Classic Video Games

Pac Man Pac Man - What more need I say?
Space War Space War - This is a replica of Space War, one of the earliest video games made. Two players steer rocket ships and shoot at each other while avoiding the gravitational pull of the Sun.
Atari Times Atari Times - Play Lunar Lander and Asteroids, two classic Atari games from the past.
Space Invaders Space Invaders - You are a pointy green thing which shoots white stuff at a rampaging invasion of wobbling blobs. They don't make 'em like they used to.
Battle Zone Battle Zone - This classic tank combat game featured one of the earliest 3D simulations. It's still riveting to play today.

Constructivist Games

Motion Sketch Motion Sketch - An ingenious drawing tool. It starts with a blank screen which is a bit confusing. Just click in it with your mouse and start drawing to see what it does.
Moovl Moovl - This simple but amazingly fun drawing and animation toy lets you create simple animations. It's great fun for wasting half an hour.
Soda Constructor Soda Constructor - A mesmerizing mechanical engineering game and simulation. Build robots and make them move. There is even a competion to race models against each other. Many adults are obsessed with this game, writing websites on building techniques for Soda Constructor.
JunkBot JunkBot - JunkBot is a puzzle game, similar to Lemmings, where you must aid your friendly JunkBot to find trash to eat.
Dub Selector Dub Selector - Dub is an electronic form of Reggae. This intoxicating game lets you mix your own rhythms to generate entrancing Dub tracks.
Dot Mixer Dot Mixer - Dot Mixer is a virtual instrument that lets you experiment with mixing sounds and sound effects.
Switch Zoo Switch Zoo - Kids younger than six really enjoy this game where you morph new creatures like a Zeb-antell-rhino, out of the heads, feet, and tails of other animals. The web version is now crippled to promote sales of their commerical version, but it's still fun.

Just Fun Games

Fly Eatin' Fly Eatin' - In fun little game, you are a frog looking for some tasty snacks.

Adventure Games

Bear's Night Out - Teddy bears, as anyone who owns one can tell you, come to life when you're asleep. This game puts you in one bear's shoes, making mischief and preparing for a big day.
Firebird - Interactive Fiction with various bits of Russian folk tales, plus extraneous elements added for humorous effect. You play Prince Ivan, the youngest of three brothers and the last to be sent in search of the firebird that's been stealing your father's golden apples.
The One That Got Away - A fish story - can you catch the legendary Big One? A small game that emphasizes the fiction aspect of IF - the puzzles are few and simple, but there's a lot of description and dialogue.
Winter Wonderland - You're a little girl concerned about your ailing brother, and you're heading into town to buy a candle so that your family will have something to put on its solstice tree--but you stumble into a fantasy world.
Fields of Dream - Fields of Dream, similar to Mad Libs, is a literary game in which participants can write fill-in-the-blank texts, called dreamfields, and blindly combine words they have written with other people's dreamfields.
